Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Cassis says that
after the 2006 season, his staff realized it had a lot of
work to do.
Attendance had dropped at the Sparta racetrack, and fans
were demanding more than just racing.
So Tuesday, the Speedway announced its schedule for the summer of 2007. It includes races, concerts and interactive displays.
“When you’re only operating events May through August, one event every month, you have to make it the extravaganza that people have come to expect” Cassis said Tuesday.
So the popular Busch race in June will be preceded by a Fanfest, and a Peter Frampton concert.
The truck race in July will include a Taylor Hicks concert.
The Indy Racing League race in August involves a Radio Disney Fanfest and a prerace concert by the Jonas Brothers.
